I’ve had a bit of writer’s block lately I think, or more like a creativity-block. I’ve been so busy trying to keep up with holiday related stuff that I haven’t been doing little projects around the house like I typically do. And when I actually do have the time to do something, my brain just wants to relax and I can’t even think about being creative.
The other morning I pulled Henry’s highchair out into the living room so I could sit on the couch, watch Good Morning America, and drink my coffee. I was just.so.tired. and the couch seemed like the best place to be.
Apparently I can’t let my brain rest, though, because as I sat on the couch I had a perfect view of our staircase and started thinking about how badly it needs a makeover.
We have lived in our home for a little over a year, and for almost that entire time, we have focused on renovating the main level. Our bedrooms are on the main level, as are the kitchen, a bathroom, living room, and the dining room. So…we have just left the upstairs untouched. And that includes the stairs.
We ripped up the carpet months ago, and I was so glad we did because I kind of felt like we were getting somewhere. But then that’s where the project stopped. So now…we have bare stairs that need to be stripped and stained. They still have some staples, a couple tack strips, and little bits of carpet padding on them.
So, we’re starting to look into refinishing our stairs but it’s probably still going to be a while on that (refinishing wood floors is expensive, guys!). I’m hoping that putting this out into the universe will help us move the project along (remember how I did that with the living room makeover?).
In the mean time, I’m going to attempt to improve the space by hanging a gallery wall going up the stairs. What are your thoughts? What should I hang? I’d love some suggestions!

Ohhh how fun!!! Love how you have a window at the bottom of your staircase. How about a fun little lit Christmas tree there? Especially if you’re not really using them traffic wise? Also I looooove these pics in a stairwell- I’ll send you a direct message via IG. ?????
