When I think back on the past year, it absolutely amazes me how much work we have been able to do on our fixer upper. It was in rough shape when we bought it and now it really does feel like our home. A little fun fact: we bought the house without ever having stepped foot in it. I’m not kidding – we Facetimed (from our apartment in Las Vegas) with our parents as our realtor walked them through it, and I literally said “we’ll take it” ON FACETIME. If that’s not a leap of faith, I don’t know what is.
We’re living on just the first floor of our home for now so we only use the main floor bathroom. I’ll tell you about the upstairs bathroom later (it’s scary). We have done some work to our main floor bathroom; i.e. took down a wallpaper border, painted the walls, removed the old medicine cabinet and replaced it with a more modern mirror [see all about that here]. We also took down the shower door [here] and switched out the lighting fixture [here]. But…there’s a lot more we want to do.

I’ve gathered together some bathroom design inspiration for myself but also to make it easy for YOU if you are thinking about remodeling your own bathroom! Just pick an item (or items) from each category to create your own modern farmhouse bathroom.
My very favorite items on the list are that copper tub that I can’t wait for the plumbers franklin lakes nj to install (OMG!), the 3-light fixture (it’s actually the same one we have in our bathroom) and the white and gray tile – swoooon.
What is YOUR favorite item on the list?
Don’t forget that you can sign up to receive my emails – I send one out every time I publish a new post, so you’ll never miss out on anything that’s happening on Shady Lane! There’s a sign up form at the very top of the page. Let me know if you need any help!
