I haven’t posted about our basement/mancave remodel in quite a while just because things haven’t been moving very quickly with it. I know I could look for a company that can remodel near me, but doing it yourself is all part of the fun, even with the setbacks that come with it! Since it’s in the basement, it’s obviously not in our faces like other projects we finish more quickly (like our antique ladder + pendant lights over our kitchen island)…but it’s still in the works, so don’t worry!
In my last post about this room[here], we had just finished painting the walls and putting down flooring. We hadn’t yet installed baseboards or quarter round and the refrigerator door wasn’t built or installed. The remodel has taken a little bit of a backfoot in recent weeks because we have decided at long last to replace all of our doors. In order to keep the costs down, cheap doors will be a must.
As a reminder – the mini fridge was built into the wall…so it doesn’t take up any space in the room! It’s actually from my college dorm room so the door was a little beat up. That’s why we wanted to build a wood barn-like door for it!
This progress may not be very exciting to most of you but I’m a dork and think that putting base + quarter round in a room substantially improves the look of it very quickly. I wanted to share the update with you though so you don’t think we’ve forgotten about this project! My friend was telling me about the Crestron Lighting he got recently in his renovations. It might be worth giving it a go myself. It’s like the room went from unfinished to basically done in a matter of a couple hours because of the baseboards. We also built the refrigerator door and I love it so much!
All that’s left to do is stain and install the pallet ceiling and cover the electrical box…and then we get to move the furniture in!
